Our Apostle and Elect Lady Jan Y. Simmons

Biography of
Apostle Allen H. Simmons, DD
Chief Apostle
of the
Sounds of Praise Pentecostal Fellowship Ministries Inc. – Worldwide

Apostle Allen H. Simmons is a native of Summerville, South Carolina (one of the suburbs of Charleston).  After graduating from Alston High School in Summerville,  SC, he continued his formal education at Cornell University Medical College and the Manhattan Bible Institute, both located in New York City.  He also did continuing education at Hunter College in NYC and the Medical University of South Carolina.  Apostle Simmons received an honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree from New Life Theological Seminary, Charlotte, North Carolina in May 2001.

Apostle Simmons, being called to the ministry at an early age, has served in various capacities of ministry: Minister of Music, Deacon, Minister, Pastor, Elder and Presiding Elder.  He has pastored along the Eastern Seaboard in the Fire Baptized Holiness Churches of God, under the Late Bishop W. E. Fuller Jr., from Upstate New York and Pennsylvania, to South Carolina.  He has more than thirty years of Pastoral expertise.

In 1994, with more than twenty-five years of Pastoral experience, he was elevated to the Bishopric, and consecrated a Bishop in the Sounds of Praise Pentecostal Fellowship Ministries, Inc., under the leadership of the Late Bishop Nathaniel Simmons, founder of the Sounds of Praise Pentecostal Fellowship Ministries, World Wide.

In October 2010, Apostle Simmons, under the divine unction of the Holy Ghost, released the vision God gave to him as it pertains to his office in the Lord’s church, to the elevation of Apostle, and in that same month Apostolic Affirmation was bestowed upon him. This man of God has indeed made his life a testament of servitude to the work of the ministry. He is a true defender or the faith, and a protector of the flock of God.

He is active in community and civic organizations presenting God’s greatness in every avenue of secular interaction. As God’s ambassador, he reflects the limitless glories of the Kingdom while demonstrating God’s love through his lifestyle.
He walks in dominion and authority and does not carry the title of Apostle as a badge of honor, but as a noble representative with manifested works of an Apostle. As he resembles Christ, his behavior is characterized by discipline, excellence and integrity.   His love for the Kingdom is revealed through his compassion and concern to the body as expressed in conversation from those who closely surround him and others who observe him from a distance.

Apostle Simmons is married to the lovely Honorable Janice Y. Simmons, who assists him inexhaustibly in ministry and serves as Co-Pastor of New Bethel.  Judge Simmons’ persona, and charm is an inspiration to the youth as well as seasoned individuals both and home and abroad. She wears an awesome anointing that is much to be desired!  They have been married since 1972 and have four adult children who love the Lord and are gifted and anointed in the service of Ministry:

     -  Elder Latitia Renee' Adams (Psalmist) and husband, Jonathan T. Adams (Musician).
     -  Elder Allen H. Simmons, II, (Presiding Elder, Executive Pastor of Greater Victory Sounds of Praise, Patterson, NJ, Musician).
     -  Sr. Pastor Elder Christian Antoine' Simmons (National Adjutant, Musician) and wife, First Lady Terry.
     -  Elder Jonathan Jermaine Simmons (Minister of Music).

Apostle and Lady Jan are the very proud grandparents of twelve; three angels, Jordan, Kyler and Naomi, and nine little prophets, Isaiah, Elijah, Micaiah, Joel, Gabriel, Joshua, Jonathan II, Zion, and Justus.

Apostle Simmons' passion is winning souls and loving people.  If you know Apostle Simmons, you will know that he is a people’s person; touchable, available, a man of integrity, and filled with the anointing.  If you do not know him, he is the kind of person you wished you knew.  When he speaks into your life, it shall come to pass!!!  So, for this brief encounter with him…..Be empowered by the Holy Spirit as he works through the awesome man of God!

  1. That God is a Spirit, infinite, eternal and unchanging in His being, wisdom, power, holiness, justice, goodness and truth.
  2. There is one God, Jehovah, the only true and living God.
  3. In the Trinity: God the Father, God the Son and, God the Holy Spirit.
  4. That the Bible is the unadulterated Word of God, unblemished, untainted and authorized by God.
  5. In the salvation of mankind and that the only way we are saved, according to the Word of God, is by grace through faith alone. It is the gift of God. (Ephesians 2:15)
  6. In repentance, justification, sanctification and the baptism of the Holy Ghost and fire. (Romans 5:1, John 17:17, 18:19, Matthew 3:11)
  7. In the blessed Hope, which is the rapture of the Church of God, through Christ Jesus, which shall be fulfilled at His return.
  8. In the gifts of the Spirit and that these gifts are in operation in the militant church. (1 Corinthians 12:8-11)
  9. In water baptism by immersion and that the baptism is a sign to the world that we have entered into a covenant relationship with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection. (Matthew 28:19)
  10. In the affirmation of Apostles, consecration of Bishops and the ordination of Elders. We believe in the Ecclesiastical Offices of the Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and Teachers for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the Body of Christ. (Ephesians 4:11)
  11. That worship, fellowship, friendship, leadership, and discipleship should be done to the glory of the Almighty God.
  12. In marriage, family, and the sanctity of the family, as recorded in the Holy Scriptures. (Genesis 2:18-25, 1 Corinthians 3:21)

  16. We should live according to the teachings of the Word of God as recorded in the Bible.  We believe that we should conduct ourselves as becoming Holy people of God and refrain from participating in anything that would dishonor God or bring reproach upon the Church of God, and dress ourselves in modest apparel according to the Word of God. (1 Timothy 2:9)
  17. We, moreover, under the unction and anointing of the Holy Ghost, do henceforth engage in the Sacraments and Ordinances enacted by Christ and practice, which are; 1) Baptism (Matthew 28:19-20) and 2) Communion. (1 Corinthians 11:23-24)
